Holistic Addiction Recovery: Breaking the Trance & Healing the Aura

Updated: Jan 14

"Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a f*ing big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers..."Trainspotting* (1996)

This unforgettable monologue by Ewan McGregor's character, Renton, defined a generation. With biting satire and raw honesty, "Trainspotting" laid bare the illusion of societal success – a path paved with empty consumption, silent despair and for many, addiction.

But what if we understood addiction on a far deeper level? What if it isn't just psychological or chemical, but also energetic?

It is often said that 'like attracts like". When the internal state drops into the heavy vibrations of shame, trauma or fear, the energy field inadvertently matches the frequency of chaotic vibration—energies that some traditions describe as attachments or entities. This is not something happening outside or an outer attack - it is an energetic frequency.

This is actually empowering news. It means nothing permanent. If your energy feels like chaos, it can also rise above it. By introducing higher-frequency treatments like Cosmoenergy or Reiki, you shift your personal vibration out of that low-level resonance. Once you uplift your energy, you no longer provide a 'match' for destructive heavy energy and the grip naturally begins to dissolve.

Understanding Addiction as Energetic Vulnerability

When stress, trauma, excessive drug use, pharmaceuticals or prolonged anxiety overwhelm the system, they affect more than just the brain or the body.

This concept aligns with emerging research in psychology, where experts like Dr. Constance Scharff note that addiction often fragments the self and mind-body therapies are essential to 'rewire' these connections [1]

They weaken the energy field. These “holes” in the aura become doorways. Just like Renton invited heroin in to escape his numb reality, many unknowingly invite in the frequency of destructive heavy energies. These are energetic frequencies that are negative and lower level frequencies.

Every human has a subtle energy field that governs their mental, emotional and physical state. When that field is punctured by self-destructive habits or relentless negativity, it's like leaving the front door wide open in a storm. "What walks in" is your own energy matching the felt: fatigue, depression, paranoia and compulsive urges.

A Note on Sleep Paralysis

Sleep paralysis offers a striking example of energetic vulnerability. While Western medicine dismisses the clue to uplift one's energy as to be medicated, ancient traditions have long recognized it as noticing dense energy —often appearing during periods of high stress or transition. Instead of suppressing these experiences with fear or pills, we can view them as a clear signal that the aura is in need of strengthening and up-lifting.

Just like the song 'Spellbound,' it is possible to break the trance of limiting beliefs and addictions by becoming the observer of our own chaos to release and enjoy stillness.

Choose Differently: A New Vision for Recovery

So let’s rewrite the script. Let’s speak to this generation and the next – not with judgment, but with awareness.

Here’s what we may choose now:

  • Choose meditation over ketamine or weed addiction. Find stillness and spaciousness within. Seek fullness instead of temporary chemical emptiness that fades. As Harvard-trained psychiatrist Dr. Marlynn Wei explains, these mindfulness practices are scientifically shown to lower stress hormones and reduce the biological urge for intoxication [2].

  • Choose hypnosis over excessive use of acid or psychedelics. Explore the subconscious through safe and healing means, rather than chaotic fragmentation.

  • Choose Reiki, Cosmoenergy, or other energy clearing sessions over numbing pharmaceuticals. Release limitations and let healing energy close the holes in your aura. Even major medical institutions, such as the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine, now recognize biofield therapies as valuable tools for supporting recovery and restoring balance [3].

  • Choose to feel pain and move through it. Pain is real, but so is liberation. Acknowledge your feelings. Let go of the pity party (feeling sorry for yourself) - that is ego seeking validation.

    You are not your ego!

  • Choose your soul’s mission over a job that kills your spirit. Purpose excites you, while status imprisons you.

  • Choose truth over trends. Just because "everyone" consumes doesn't mean you have to.

  • Choose awareness over apathy. Ignorance might seem peaceful, but it's the perfect condition for parasitic energy to breed.

  • Choose real connection over escapism. Whether through energy healing, honest conversations or simply being. Choosing your soul and a higher consciousness keeps you connected. Don’t compromise your well-being for friendships grounded in addiction.

  • Choose yourself - YOUR SOUL/SPIRIT. Always. Not your conditioned self, but the one beyond labels, pain, trauma or addiction.

The Hidden Cost of Not Choosing Consciously

We live in a society that still glorifies productivity over presence, image over essence and pills over peace.

When experiences such as loss of meaning, grief, isolation, overwork, substance use, existential disorientation or altered states are numbed instead of released—using antidepressants or pills as management — then condition management replaces healing. Stability replaces wholeness and survival replaces letting go.

But when you avoid self-awareness, the consequences are profound. They're not just emotional; they're energetic.

A limiting belief sustains itself by constantly searching for confirmation

A limiting belief interprets experiences in a way that protects the belief from being questioned. Even when alternatives are available, the mind often chooses the familiar explanation if it feels safer than slowing down, seeing clearly.

This pattern applies to mental health as well. Symptoms are signals. Those signals require presence, honesty and a willingness to let it go!

When you lean into ready-made labels and identify with them ( "I have Bipolar," "I'm diagnosed with ADHD" or "I'm Irish -that's why I drink"😊) it can become easier to accept and identify rather than to acknowledge and release the labels.

Destructive heavy energies may feel real because of the energetic frequencies that are fed with unresolved pain, mental chaos and substance abuse. Many people are unaware that they are feeding these darker negative frequencies – taking on something and carrying what is not yours! Nothing to fear, just become conscious of it so you can release it!

Private island retreats offer more than peace — they invite deep reconnection with nature, yourself and your soul’s purpose.

Choose Life. Again?

Not the life Renton sarcastically described. Not a version where your soul is sold for a mortgage and a microwave. But a life where you are awake, present and aligned with your own energy and integrity. This is where you're in charge of your frequency.

"Choose neutrality and see where you may arrive. Why?"

Choose clarity and truth. Choose neutrality. Choose peace.

Because now, you know better.

The Path to True Freedom

True freedom comes from understanding that you are not any identity and you do not need to suffer.

Engaging in practices that lift our vibrations is liberating. Regular energy clearing, for instance, can uplift the very being.

Empowerment lies in taking responsibility for our state of being. The process of recognizing the patterns and enjoying the stillness.

Breaking the Trance: Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. Why are anxiety and depression increasing?

A: We live in an era of over-stimulation and under-connection. As a society, we have become "heads on sticks"— constantly thinking, analysing and consuming, but rarely enjoying the silence or just being, creating without desire for certain outcomes. This disconnect from your true self creates restlessness and affects your energy field. Anxiety is often the energy of the illusion of “un-lived life" rattling the cage, while depression is the soul's way of forcing a "deep rest" (depress) from a persona that no longer fits.

Q2. Why isn’t mental health improving despite more access to treatment?

A: Modern treatment often focuses on management rather than healing. When we treat symptoms merely as chemical imbalances to be suppressed, we ignore the root causes. Transcendence comes from addressing the "holes" in the energy field and letting go of the false.

Q3. Do psychiatric medications numb emotions?

A: Many individuals report feeling emotionally "flat" on medication. While these tools can provide stability in a crisis, relying on them long-term can lead to a state where "stability replaces wholeness." Healing requires us not to silence anything, simply to let go of limiting beliefs that cause suffering.

Q4. What is the difference between managing symptoms and healing?

A: Management is about surviving the day; healing is about releasing the false. Management asks, "How do I stop feeling this?" Healing asks, "What is this symptom trying to tell me?" One keeps you in a loop of chronicity; the other opens a door to freedom.

Q5. Why do people identify so strongly with diagnoses like ADHD or Bipolar?

Labels offer safety and belonging. Saying "I have ADHD" provides a familiar explanation for struggles. However, this can become a trap where we defend the label rather than releasing the energetic frequency by staying present. As mentioned in the article, we must be careful not to let a diagnosis become an identity that limits.

Q6. Are conditions like Bipolar or ADHD truly lifelong?

A: They are often framed as lifelong by models that view them solely as brain disorders. However, from a holistic energetic perspective, nothing is fixed. If you shift your frequency, the brain chemistry changes. You can release restless energy by being present, and let go of the subconscious negative patterns feeding the condition.

Q7. Why do I feel empty even though I’m “functioning” and successful?

A: This is the “Trainspotting” paradox. You can choose the job, the car and the big TV and still starve spiritually. This emptiness is a signal that you are living from your conditioned self (ego) rather than your True Self. It is not a disorder; it is a call to align with your true essence that is abundant and does not need anything to feel happy and free but can have a job, the car and the TV.

Q8. Is sleep paralysis just a sleep disorder or is it spiritual?

A: While Western medicine categorises it as a REM sleep glitch, ancient traditions view it as a moment of energetic openness. It is often a sign that your aura is permeable and you are becoming aware of dense energies. It is a call to strengthen and uplift your energy field.

Q9. Is spiritual awakening sometimes mistaken for mental illness?

A: Yes. Symptoms like existential disorientation, hearing voices or intense energetic sensitivity are often pathologised. What might be a "dark night of the soul" or a breakthrough in consciousness is frequently labeled as a breakdown to be medicated.

Q10. Can loss of meaning cause mental health issues?

A: When we numb with medication or drugs and thus disconnect from genuine excitement; suppress truth to fit in, it creates deep internal dissonance. This energetic friction often manifests as depression or anxiety — signals that we need to return to simple awareness and enjoy being.
