One-of-a-Kind Upcycled Art Coat — Try On in Amsterdam Kokopelli Gallery near Amsterdam Central Station.

Alice in Amster-World: A One-of-a-Kind Up-cycled Art Coat by Dorit and Laura.

Step into a magical blend of vintage charm and contemporary artistry with "Alice in Amster-World," an exquisite up-cycled coat, a collaborative original art piece by Amsterdam independent artists Dorit Kozlovski and Laura Goldberg.

Originally crafted in the 1950s as a custom-made piece for Dorit's beloved grandmother, this coat carries the warmth and elegance of a bygone era, now rejuvenated with modern artistic flair.

A true vintage revival: heirloom 50's base, reimagined with hand-painted and hand-knit details.

Story behind this one of a kind art:

Laura was fascinated by Reiki and hypnosis. Dorit found Lauras' art adorable and asked if she can paint Dorit's cat Pippo (with a character of true Hip-hop gangsta king cat) to the coat of her beloved grandmother, originally custom made just for her in the 50s.

After Laura had finished her hand-painted art part. Dorit added hand-knitted details made from pre-loved wool to add three dimensional sculpture and finish the coat.

Artistic Features:

Hand-Knitted Embellishments by Dorit Kozlovski: Dorit has breathed new life into this cherished garment with her meticulous hand-knitted yellow flower petals, lotus flower, and leaves. Each piece is intricately sewn with delicate beads, adding a touch of sparkle and texture that catches the eye and elevates the coat's aesthetic appeal.

Hand-Painted Motifs by Laura Goldberg: Laura has added a unique touch with her stunning hand-painted depiction of Pippo the cat on the back of the coat, capturing the feline’s essence with lifelike detail. Complementing this is her beautiful floral motifs adorning the front and sides, creating a harmonious blend of nature-inspired artistry.

A one-of-a-kind original wearable art piece—upcycled locally in Amsterdam.

This coat is a testament to sustainable fashion, transforming a pre-loved garment into a modern-day work of art.

By choosing this up-cycled piece, you are supporting eco-friendly practices and contributing to the reduction of fashion waste.

Recycling textile fibers to create new clothing is possible today. Still, the environmental impact and resource demand of such activities are significantly greater than destroying the old product and producing a new one.

Currently, 90% of used clothes end up in landfills. Less than 12% of products are recycled, and less than 1% are used to make new clothing.
